The Julian Family's Story
Mrs. Marie Julian is a 37 year old mother of four children ages 11, 8, 7, and 4. When Mrs. Julian was pregnant with her fourth child (Ricky), her husband left the family and refused to provide sufficient financial support. After years of getting by, Marie was facing eviction from their home so the family moved in with her mother. Now that her mother could help with the children, Marie could find a better job and provide the family with more financial support. Unfortunately, shortly after moving in, Mrs. Julian’s mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Marie decided that moving out of her mother’s home was best for all and arranged for a relative to move in to care for her mother. Marie found the Madison Day Care Center to watch Ricky so she could continue to work to provide for her family. Shortly after getting Ricky situated, she learned that Madison Day Care was closing. Once again Marie faced adversity. When the news came that Family Service of Morris County (FSMC) had taken over the Madison Day Care Center, she was ecstatic. “I have always been a very proud and self sufficient person. Without the help of FSMC and Madison Day Care, I would have had to quit my job, take care of my son, and go on welfare. I would have been depressed if I had to be dependent like this.” But the Julian family’s story doesn’t end with the takeover of Madison Day Care. Recently, a flood destroyed most of the family’s clothing. Family Service quickly responded with items for the family. FSMC continues to be a vital resource for a family that keeps getting hit with challenges.
