Family Service of Morris County (FSMC) is a private, non-profit organization serving Morris County for 197 years with a mission of strengthening the community by empowering individuals and families to meet and overcome life's challenges. Within our mission, we concentrate on prevention and early intervention in four strategic areas to make an impact on our communities by:

Giving children the best start in life with programs that focus on improved social and emotional well being, parenting, early childhood education, grief counseling, family support and resources;
Keeping older adults independent and in their homes through social day centers, caregiver respite, in-home case-management, financial literacy and programs for the blind and visually impaired;
Building and maintaining healthy families by helping them cope with everyday challenges of stress, anxiety, parenting concerns, marital issues, and the unique concerns of Military families;
Preventing substance abuse in families and communities through education.

FSMC offers over 20 innovative programs that provide counseling, education, advocacy and support to over 7,000 children, families and seniors in the community.

Generosity and Creativity Reign at Family Service of Morris County Young Professionals’ Bowl-A-Thon

The Family Service of Morris County (FSMC) Young Professionals, a group of emerging leaders and philanthropists representing key businesses in Morris County, exceeded all prior fundraising records for the annual event at Hanover Lanes in a corporate challenge that raised a record breaking nearly $33,000 for FSMC. For the fourth consecutive year, the FSMC Young Professionals engaged hundreds of their corporate peers in the annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser to increase awareness and to support FSMC’s mission of giving children the best start in life, building and maintaining healthy families, keeping seniors independent and in their own homes, and preventing substance abuse in families and communities through education. Nestle Infant Nutrition — Creating Shared Value

You may have noticed throughout the year that caring corporations in the area have developed truly extraordinary relationships with FSMC. Take, for instance, Nestle Infant Nutrition of Florham Park, whose management team has established Creating Shared Value, an employee volunteering initiative that encourages Nestle employees to get involved in the community and stay involved for several years. Nestle selected FSMC as its premier agency and established four areas in which to focus: (1) FSMC Madison Day Care Center, (2) FSMC Adult Day Centers, (3) FSMC Young Professionals Bowl-A-Thon, and (4) “Hope for the Holidays.” According to FSMC Volunteer Coordinator Marie Palumbo, “each area has two co-chairs that organize the volunteer teams and they have taken a leadership role in planning and executing programs, with exceptional results.” This fall, volunteers from Nestle came into the FSMC Madison Day Care Center to talk with children and their parents about nutrition and made some tasty, healthy treats together. You cannot talk about nutrition without exercise, so Nestle went above and beyond donating four tricycles, helmets and hula-hoops! Seniors at the FSMC Adult Day Centers and Nestle volunteers had a blast at a Harvest Festival Lunch this fall, complete with games and special prizes. Nestle’s young professionals made a great showing at the Bowl-A-Thon, which raised a total of nearly $33,000, and now the company is preparing for a Thanksgiving food drive and planning to help out families in need this holiday season. If food is love, Nestle Infant Nutrition has certainly given much of both to FSMC families!

Making Holiday Dreams Come True: FSMC Hope for the Holidays

FSMC Hope for the Holidays is not just a gift drive, but a program that brings joy to needy families, seniors, and children.  In today's economy, there are many families who are having a  difficult time, so donations and gifts from individuals, companies, organizations, or schools, truly bring joy to those in need.

Such is the case of the Jones family.  The parents of three are both employed, but are struggling and may lose their home to foreclosure.  All their disposable income is used for doctor bills and medication for their terminally ill eldest son. Without the program, they would not be receiving gifts of warm clothing this holiday.  Another example is Ginny, an 86 year old woman who lives alone in senior housing.  Ginny has no family or surviving friends, so the gift from Hope for the Holidays may be her only gift this year.
FSMC wishes to express thanks to the many individuals, families, and companies, who are helping us help families in our community.  Special recognition goes to Normandy Real Estate Partners, whose employees created 72 Thanksgiving gift baskets for our families in need.  In addition, we want to thank:  Daily Record Operation Holiday Program, imedia inc., Nestle Infant Nutrition, Starbucks, BASF, Novartis Pharmaceutical Corporation, Tumbleweeds, Florham Park Seniors Helping Seniors Group, Royal Coachman Limousine Company, Boonton Ladies Club, Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland Perretti, Western Appliance, Avis, Wells Fargo,UPS

and Premium Outlets® | SIMON®
